Dr. Kevin Sütterlin is one of the country’s leading conducting pedagogues, being praised for his keen analytical eye and deep understanding of conducting technique and physique, paired with a kind and caring approach that has empowered conductors and conducting students across the globe.
Sütterlin’s approach to conducting and conducting pedagogy is non-ideological, sensible, and wholesome. He allows his students to explore, unfold, and develop themselves in a nurturing and caring environment.
He equips students with a thorough understanding of a healthy conducting technique that aims to gain maximum clarity and expressiveness by releasing unnecessary tension, and relying on gravity.

Over the past five years, Sütterlin has built one the country’s most wholesome and rigorous summer programs for conductors. The program is designed to prepare diligent and hard-working conducting students for a career in the professional and academic fields. Best-friend-conductors Dr. Mathias Elmer and Dr. Kevin Sütterlin hold two academies together every year with their period performance practice ensemble, Sinfonietta Memphis. The academies have an instrumental performance/research track, as well as a conducting fellowship program.

Dr. Sütterlin is currently developing a nationwide one-of-a-kind undergraduate certificate program at Concordia College that will fill the sore need for a comprehensive training and curriculum for aspiring conductors.
